2013 USATF-NE Ultrarunning Championship
The Rhode Island 6 Hour Ultramarathon and Relay is currently Rhode Island’s only Ultra. This event is a 6 hour timed event, plain and simple the individual and team that completes the most miles within 6 Hours wins the event.
The course is a slightly rolling loop in Warwick RI’s City Park. The course is wooded and scenic with parts over looking Narragansett Bay. The race will consist of an individual and team relay event.
Teams may consist of 2 to 6 runners, but only one runner will be allowed on the course at a time. Awards will go to the first three male, female and teams in the event.
What is the Ultra?
The Ultramarathon is a long distance race consisting of distances greater than the traditional 26.2 miles of the marathon. While common distances of 50km or 50 miles are most often found, other events like this one, are timed duration events.
Why the Rhode Island 6 Hour?
Rhode Island has a rich tradition of road running, and the weather in mid-November makes for ideal running conditions. While there can be warmer or cooler days, temperatures in November are usually in the 40′s. The course is a closed loop on wooded bike paths free of car traffic with easy consistent access to aid stations.
